I get asked a lot about what recipes I’m using and what kinds of foods I’m eating.  Youtube is a great resource for raw food recipes and from there you can learn about the different kinds of raw food cook books.  What I’m finding is the simpler the better.  I don’t have a dehydrator and right now I’m not planning on getting one.  I like a few youtubers because they don’t use the dehydrator and make great recipes.  I’m still learning myself and feel I have a long way to go.  My husband and I are eating mostly salads and soups.  I have 2 soup recipes that I make on a regular basis and I just change up the vegetables that I put in my salads.  Another resource I found was my Everyday Food magazines.  In the summer and light editions there were several raw food recipes that I did not even realize were raw foods.  They are great vegetable side dishes that I turned into main courses.  Over the next couple of weeks I’ll be posting some of the recipes and sharing some of the cookbooks I’ve found helpful.

Fruits & Veggies More Matters.

1.  My husband is using terminology like “dead carcass” when referring to meat. 

2.  I’ve been holding off on this observation because it is a little personal, but I’ve got to say that since changing my diet my bowel movements have no foul odor and neither does my husbands.  Also, deodorant is a nonissue. 

3.  Still not craving meat, or chocolate, or bread. 

4.  I’ve been thinking about Brussel sprouts for 2 days and I’m determined to have steamed Brussel sprouts for dinner this week.

5.  Nuts have become my go to snack.

I may be witnessing my husband’s complete transformation to vegetarian.  I don’t know if he is going to go back to eating meat after these 21 days.  Kris Carr said that body odor was going to go away and she was right.  I did not think about it until today, but after my 5K walk I had almost no body odor and I did break a sweat.  I’m going to pay attention to this and see if after a good sweat I’m not reeking for miles.

1.  My caffeine headache is thankfully gone, but really I’m looking forward to a cup of coffee.

2.  I’m still not craving meat.

3.  My husband and I are both feeling extremely light these days.

4.  I think my congestion is clearing up but I’ll get back to you on that.

5.  Husband says he is not as hungry as he used to be, does not feel weak, and does not have cravings.

So, it’s been a few days.  We are hanging in there.  I’ve had a busy and fun weekend.  I walked in a 5K race early Saturday morning and it was an experience I would gladly repeat.  My lovely sisters in Islam walked with me and we had a blast (Shout out to Aafia who was my walking partner!).

1.  My left eye is twitching.

2.  I have a serious headache.

3.  I woke up with coffee on my mind and settled for green tea.

So, all afternoon and evening I’ve had a raging headache and thought it was related to decreased caloric intake, so I ate more salad.  Then, when my left eye started twitching I realized I was having caffeine withdrawal because I haven’t had my coffee in days!!!  This is why my husband calls me an addict.  I drank coffee up until the day before we changed our diet despite knowing I was going to be leaving it and despite the advice of Kris Carr to taper off.  I LOVE COFFEE!  So now my eye is twitching and my head is pounding and I can’t get a lick of work done but that’s okay.  As soon as this 21 days is over I’m going back to coffee.  I figure I’ll have a cup of coffee on the days we have meat with our dinner!  Read the rest of this entry »

1. Still not craving meat, which is a good thing. My husband has not mentioned wanting it either.
2. What surprises me the most is the lack of craving something sweet. I’m usually thinking about chocolate as some point in the day but these last few days I have not had the urge to buy chocolate or make chocolate chip cookies (my #1 favorite sweet).
3. My appetite does not seem to be as large as it was before changing my diet.
