Balsamic Chicken Drumettes.
I found a recipe online by the Italian cook Giada De Laurentiis. This is a chicken recipe that she advertises as an appetizer and so I initially made it as lunch for my husband and myself. I have since bought bigger pieces of chicken and made it the main dish for dinner. My husband and I really enjoyed it and I hope that you will too. Read the rest of this entry »
The public library is truly an American treasure. I don’t know anywhere else where you can go and have so many things offered for use free and all you have to do is prove that you live in a neighborhood. To the people that support the libraries I say thank you. As I just posted below my internet at home is out and so I came to my local public library for a quick email check. In our libraries because computer space is limited you have to reserve a computer and you get an allotted time of 55 minutes per session. So, I am sitting here reading a blog I like to keep up with and I realize that my time is running out. I am checking the clock and reading as fast as I can when lo and behold the computer says, “Would you like another 15 minutes?” Well, I certainly would and that just makes me even more grateful to have this wonderful service. If you don’t take advantage of the libraries in your area I would encourage you to go and see what’s new.

So, recently my husband and I moved. When I was trying to switch all of our utilities I ran into an unexpected road block with Time Warner Cable. It seems the resident who lived in the apartment before us never shut off his service and they would not let me open a new account at an address where an account was already set up. It turned out that the previous resident was a college student who went back to his native country of India and he obviously was not going to call back from India to cancel his internet connection. We had to get a letter from our leasing office attesting to the fact that the guy was gone and we were in fact the residents. Long story short, after having internet for 3 weeks we went to the office to get the service switched over and they cut the internet off and told me it would be 2 weeks before they would cut it back on. I don’t have rhyme or reason for why they would cut us off, but here I sit in my local library doing an email and blog check.
I have been out of work for a week and I am praying to Allah that the company I work for will understand and not fire me. No amount of pleading would get them to cut the internet on any sooner. My husband and I even decided we would look into alternatives because 2 weeks seemed like a really long time to wait. Turns out that Time Warner really is the best deal in town. No contracts like with Verizon and Clear Wire and their upload and download times are much faster. After checking out all our options we decided to be patient, and if this ever happens again I know to get the internet switched over and cut on before I move instead of after. So, here I sit at my local library grateful that internet access is free and a lesson learned, even though I still think Time Warner done me wrong.
